Do Houses Really Sell in the Fall?

Do Houses Really Sell in the Fall?  It’s around this time of the year that we get calls from potential home sellers asking if they should bother listing their house for sale, since winter is around the corner.  They wonder, "Who buys houses this time of the year?"  Our answer, "People who need a place to live."  In fact, from our many years of real estate experience, we know that homes sell all year round!

Advantages in Listing Your Home For Sale in the Fall Months:

There are a few definite advantages in listing your home for sale during the fall months, such as;

1.) The buyers are more serious. The “tire kickers” come out in the warmer months.  In the fall and winter months, buyers look at real estate when they need to move.

2.) Due to the current low inventory of homes for sale, buyers are now forced to shop year round.

3.)  There’s less competition.  The majority of home sellers believe their chances of selling go down in the fall and winter, so they take their homes off the market and don't even try.  Inventory starts to decline even further in the fall.  Fewer listings on the market put you in a position to capture your buyer!

The reality is that there are people with reasons for moving all year around (marriage, divorce, downsizing, up-sizing, transfer, etc.)  If you’re ready to sell your house, you just need to go for it!
